Two locker's worth of wet rain gear! |
Today's
weather forecast: 90% chance of precipitation. 100% chance of getting quite wet while riding. So we gear up and ride anyway. Well at least some of us do. I was tempted to take the car today, but knew my wife would be using it later, so that was out. Instead, I put on my 2 pairs of rain pants, 2 rain coats, a cap under my helmet, and my normal reflective jacket - oh, and my hiking boots (my usual commuter has
these great spd pedals that can be with or without cycling shoes). I also turned on all of my bike-lights to increase my visibility a bit more. Of course it was pouring hard right before I left, until the moment I wheeled out of the garage - it was down to just a steady sprinkle! However, it picked up again at about mile 2. So I arrived at work fairly wet, but I was dry underneath! And a bonus of my workplace - we have lockers and showers I didn't need another shower, but the lockers (yes, 2 in this case) came in handy for hanging up my clothes - we'll see how dry they are by close of business - but it doesn't matter all that much. It's still raining and I'll be getting wet again. Oh well. At least I can get home in time to then go back out for a run in the rain for week 3 of 17 for my half marathon training run. Maybe the rain will stop?
